One sunny day in 2009...

I got this in an email...enjoy!

One sunny day in 2009, an old man approached the White House from across Pennsylvania Avenue, where he had been sitting on a park bench. He spoke to the Marine standing guard and said, I would like to go in and meet with President Barack Obama. The Marine replied, Sir, Mr. Obama is not President and doesn't reside here. The old man said, Okay, and walked away. The following day, the same man approached the White House and said to the same Marine, I would like to go in and meet with President Barack Obama. The Marine again told the man, Sir, as I said yesterday, Mr.Obama is not President and doesn't reside here. The man thanked him and again walked away. The third day, the same man approached the White House and spoke to the very same Marine, saying I would like to go in and meet with President Barack Obama. The Marine, understandably agitated at this point, looked at the man and said, Sir, this is the third day in a row you have been here asking to speak to Mr. Obama. I've told you already several times that Mr. Obama is not the President and doesn't reside here. Don't you understand? The old man answered, Oh, I understand you fine. I just love hearing your answer! The Marine snapped to attention, saluted, and said, See you tomorrow, SIR!

Sunday Night Football Intro

So...It was just announced a couple of days ago that Faith Hill is going to be doing the Sunday night football intro on NBC once again. I love watching the intro, but Faith Hill just doesn't do it for me! Bring Pink back! I loved watching Pink's version...blah...I guess I'm outnumbered?! Oh well! Here's Pink's version if you want to watch it. Oh, and TGIFS! Thank Goodness It's Football Season! The good ol' Auburn Tigers started practice today! War Eagle!

Do it anyway...

When she walks away from you mad [ Follow her ]
When she stares at your mouth [ Kiss her ]
When she pushes you or hits you [ Grab her and dont let go ]
When she starts cussing at you [ Kiss her and tell her you love her ]
When she's quiet [ Ask her whats wrong ]
When she ignores you [ Give her your attention ]
When she pulls away [ Pull her back ]
When you see her at her worst [ Tell her she's beautiful ]
When you see her start crying [Just hold her and dont say a word ]
When you see her walking [ Sneak up and hug her waist from behind ]
When she's scared [ Protect her ]
When she lays her head on your shoulder [ Tilt her head up and kiss her ]
When she steals your favorite hat [ Let her keep it and sleep with it for a night]
When she teases you [ Tease her back and make her laugh ]
When she doesn't answer for a long time [ reassure her that everything is okay ]
When she looks at you with doubt [ Back yourself up ]
When she says that she likes you [ she really does more than you could understand ]
When she grabs at your hands [ Hold her's and play with her fingers ]
When she bumps into you [ bump into her back and make her laugh ]
When she tells you a secret [ keep it safe and untold ]
When she looks at you in your eyes [ dont look away until she does ]
When she misses you [ she's hurting inside ]
When you break her heart [ the pain never really goes away ]
When she says its over [ she still wants you to be hers ]
When she reposts this bulletin [ she wants you to read it ]

- Stay on the phone with her even if shes not saying anything.
- When she's mad hug her tight and don't let go
- When she says she's ok dont believe it, talk with her
- because 10 yrs later she'll remember you
- Call her at 12:00am on her birthday to tell her you love her
- Call her before you sleep and after you wake up
- Treat her like she's all that matters to you.
- Tease her and let her tease you back.
- Stay up all night with her when she's sick.
- Watch her favorite movie with her or her favorite show even if you think its stupid.
- Give her the world.
- Let her wear your clothes.
- When she's bored and sad, hang out with her.
- Let her know she's important.
- Kiss her in the pouring rain.
- When she runs up at you crying, the first thing you say is: "Who's butt am I kicking babe?"

College Athletes

It's not about getting a scholarship, getting drafted, or making SportsCenter. It's a deep need in us that comes from the heart. We need to practice, to play, to lift, to hustle, to sweat. We do it all for our teammates and for the student in our calculus class that we don't even know.We don't practice with a future major league first baseman; we practice with a future sports agent. We don't lift weights with a future Olympic wrestler; we lift with a future doctor. We don't run with a future Wimbledon champion; we run with a future CEO.

It's a bigger part of us than our friends and family can understand. Sometimes we play for 2,000 fans; sometimes 25. But we still play hard. You cheer for us because you know us. You know more than just our names. Like all of you, we are students first. We don't sign autographs. But we do sign graduate school applications, MCAT exams, and student body petitions.

When we miss a kick or strike out, we don't let down an entire state. We only let down our teammates, coaches, and fans. But the hurt is still the same. We train hard, lift, throw, run, kick, tackle, shoot, dribble, and lift some more, and in the morning we go to class. And in that class we are nothing more than students.

It's about pride--in ourselves, in our school. It's about our love and passion for the game. And when it's over, when we walk off that court or field for the last time, our hearts crumble. Those tears are real. But deep down inside, we are very proud of ourselves. We will forever be what few can claim... college athletes.
